Are expenses for massage therapy eligible under the Health FSA?
Massage therapy is generally not eligible for reimbursement unless prescribed by a doctor to treat a specific injury or trauma. The cost of a massage simply to improve general health is not eligible. If prescribed to treat a specific condition, a physician’s statement indicating the condition and treatment required should be submitted. Your doctor may provide you with certification on letterhead from their office, or you may provide this Letter of Medical Necessity form for your doctor to complete. This letter is valid for one year from the date written. Before making an election based on this expense, please contact us to ensure the eligibility of your particular situation.
